Cesc Fabregas fears the end of his Barcelona dream after Catalan club admit they may wait

Cesc Fabregas has been left shocked by the news that Barcelona are considering shelving plans to bring him to the Nou Camp this summer.[LNB]Fabregas went out on a limb before Spain's victorious World Cup campaign by informing Arsene Wenger on three separate occasions of his desire to return to his boyhood club during the current transfer window.[LNB] Suits you, sir: Cesc Fabregas wears Barcelona colours during Spain's World Cup celebrations this week[LNB] [LNB]But new Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has cast doubt on the immediate capture of Fabregas, blaming previous incumbent Joan Laporta for wrecking relations with Arsenal with his very public courting of their skipper.[LNB]'Arsenal have been very hurt by Barca,' said Rosell. 'They don't want to listen to offers and they haven't put him up for sale. There was a big dispute a few months ago and they have not forgotten it.'[LNB] Pure joy: Fabregas with his hands on the World Cup after Spain's victory over Holland last weekend[LNB] [LNB]The Barca president's comments come after he held a conference call with Wenger and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis this week where their determination to hold on to Fabregas was once again made plain.[LNB]Rosell has not totally ruled out signing Fabregas this summer but conceded the 23-year-old midfielder may have to wait 12 months for his dream move.[LNB]'He (Fabregas) will arrive, even if it is not now, it will be next year,' said Rosell. 'We will see.[LNB]'One thing that is certain is that we will not go mad trying to sign him. No shareholder would pay 60 or 70million euros for him. We will not go all out for him.[LNB]'We would only pay his value in the transfer market.'[LNB]Barca are understood to be ready to go as high as £38million for Fabregas despite much publicised financial problems and the £8.4m capture of Sevilla full back Adriano yesterday.[LNB] One more year? Cesc Fabregas may yet stay with Arsenal[LNB] [LNB]Fabregas, who is under contract with Arsenal until June 2015, is refusing to be drawn into the dicussions.[LNB]He said: 'I have not spoken to anybody in the last few days and I want to ignore anything regarding my future for now.[LNB]'I want to enjoy my holidays and I don't want to talk about Barcelonaat this moment.[LNB]'I make no apologies for the comments I have made in the past. I haveexpressed my interest in returning and I stand by that, as that is my personal wish.'[LNB] Marouane Chamakh has praised Arsenal's brand of 'attractive football' but says he can offer Arsene Wenger's side the way 'to play ugly'.[LNB]The 6ft 2in striker, who joined Arsenal from Bordeaux on a free transfer in May, said he can provide an alternative to the Gunners' passing game.[LNB]Chamakh said: 'It's what I like, playing nice attractive football with short passes, on the floor, lots of pass and move. Every player in the world wants to play like that and Arsenal, like Barcelona, provides you with this philosophy.[LNB]'I won't have any trouble to fit in the style of play. The philosophy here is the same Laurent Blanc applied in Bordeaux during the last three seasons. [LNB]'So I can play the way Arsenal play, but I can bring something more too with long balls towards me if we are struggling during a game as I'm strong in the air.'[LNB]Arsenal Magazine is out now, priced £3.25 or £33 for 12 issues.
