Carlo Ancelotti criticised Chelsea's lack of spirit after seeing the champions crushed 3-0 by Sunderland in their 'worst performance' during his time at Stamford Bridge. [LNB]Goals from Nedum Onuoha, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck sealed a comfortable Sunderland victory after Arsenal's 2-1 win at Everton cut Chelsea's lead in the Barclays Premier League to two points.[LNB] Bad day at the office: Drogba and Co were soundly beaten by Sunderland [LNB] Ancelotti said: 'We didn't play well. Sunderland played a fantastic game with more fighting spirit and attitude, mentality. It's normal to lose the game if you don't show this kind of mentality. [LNB]'Was it the worst performance under my management? I think so. The performance was poor today, but in football it can happen if you're not at your best and don't play with your best mentality.' [LNB] Angry: Ancelotti says Sunday's defeat was the worst of his Chelsea career [LNB]Ancelotti refused to blame the defeat on the dismissal of assistant manager Ray Wilkins on Thursday or the absence of John Terry, who will also miss England's friendly against France after aggravating a hamstring injury in training on Saturday. [LNB]Sunderland boss Steve Bruce called it his proudest moment in charge of the club. He said: 'It's not often you beat this lot 3-0 in their backyard. It won't happen very often again. We really took it to them. I'm very proud of the performance. [LNB]'I've sat here many a time after a hiding. I said to my assistant (Eric Black) beforehand that I thought we'd get something. There you go.' [LNB]In a stark contrast to the mood at Chelsea, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised his side's 'fighting spirit' after goals from Bacary Sagna and Cesc Fabregas held off a late Everton challenge sparked by Tim Cahill's reply. [LNB] Bac of the net: Sagna celebrates with Squillaci after scoring the opening goal of the game [LNB]The Frenchman said: 'We showed discipline, commitment, togetherness and 100 per cent desire for the full 90 minutes. There was a fighting spirit about us, as well as quality in our football, and those are the ingredients you need to challenge for the title. [LNB]'You don't take points from Goodison Park without that, and I feel this win has put us in a very good position.' [LNB]Chelsea could find themselves knocked off the top by the time they play again. If Arsenal beat Tottenham in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, they will top the table, certainly until Chelsea play at Birmingham later in the afternoon.
