Campbell eyes Newcastle free transfer as Taylor gets set for Everton switch
Sol Campbell is hoping to join Newcastle after watching their 3-0 win against Reading on Saturday.
With Steven Taylor ready to hand in a transfer request to force a move - probably to Everton - free agent Campbell could be his replacement.
The former Spurs, Arsenal and England defender, 36 next month, has been released by Portsmouth and has expressed an interest in being the club's first summer signing.
He happily signed autographs for fans at St James' Park and now awaits further developments in the takeover process.
