Brazil 2 Ukraine 0: Pato strikes to settle bizarre date in Derby

There are many things you might expect to see on a chilly Monday night in Derby, but the first meeting between Brazil and Ukraine isn't one of them. [LNB]It will certainly go down as one of the more bizarre dates in the English football calendar - an international that was only set up two weeks ago by the Swiss organisers who chose Pride Park on the basis that Derby has the biggest Ukrainian population in Great Britain. [LNB] Danger by the double: Pato evades Ukraine defender Vitalii Maudziuk (L) to score Brazil's second at Pride Park[LNB] That will have come as little consolation to the Brazil team who, having faced Iran in Abu Dhabi last week, must think they have crossed over into a parallel universe. [LNB]  Their supporters have become used to seeing the five-time World Cup winners play at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.[LNB]But even they were perplexed at having to venture so far north to play in front of 13,088 fans.[LNB]Brazil manager Mano Menezes said: 'It is a beautiful stadium and I think we offered a good game.[LNB]'However, I thought people loved Brazil so I expected more fans.'[LNB] Pain game: Ukraine manager Yuriy Kalitvintsev (R) looks on as Artem Milevskyy slides in on Brazil's Andre Santos[LNB]Romario (a kitchen porter not the former Brazil star) had taken the day off to come up from London. [LNB]'It's hardly the Maracana is it!' he smiled. [LNB]'And Monday? Surely another day would have been better.' [LNB]Yuriy, a taxi driver from Kiev who also lives in London, was much happier, saying: 'It normally costs me £500 to go to see them play in Ukraine so this is much cheaper.' [LNB] Back in England: Former Manchester City forward Robinho is tackled by Ukraine's Anatoiy Tymoshchuk[LNB] It was a rather unfriendly friendly with Chelsea's Ramires lucky to escape a straight red for stamping on Oleksandr Romanchuk. [LNB]But new Brazil coach Luis Menezes picked up his third straight win thanks to Dani Alves' deflected volley and Alexandre Pato's second-half effort.[LNB]  Barcelona weigh up shock move for Arsenal midfielder Denilson Inter Milan boss Benitez wants to raid Liverpool for old boy Lucas New Brazil boss Menezes expecting toughest test yet against UkraineDunga tells Neymar: Forget Chelsea and join Juventus to boost your game [LNB]  Explore more:People: Alexandre Pato Places: London, Islamic Republic of Iran, Brazil
