Bordeaux planning Chamakh talks

The Moroccan striker found himself at the centre of a long-running transfer saga over the summer as his future became the topic of much debate. He hinted that he was ready for a fresh challenge, while the likes of Arsenal and West Ham were said to be weighing up bids. In the end, though, no move materialised and Chamakh remained at Stade Chaban Delmas. Reports suggest interest could be reignited in January, with clubs able to talk terms with the 25-year-old in the New Year as his current deal is set to expire next summer. De Tavernost is refusing to give up, though, and he believes Chamakh could yet commit to the reigning Ligue 1 champions. "Laurent Blanc said if I big club came in he would let him go, but a big club did not come in or at least did not show enough interest," he told Sud Ouest. "Now I am expecting him (Blanc) to have a chat with him, to talk about the future together. "I hope he will agree to stay for at least one more year, providing the conditions are acceptable for all parties."
