Gary Megson has persuaded Gary Cahill to sign a new bumper deal at Bolton to finally scare off a string of Premier League admirers. Defender Cahill, 23, will finalise a new, three-year contract today to head off interest from Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham. Megson feared he would lose his prize asset to a bigger club with Cahill hoping to force his way into Fabio Capello's World Cup squad. 'Gary is the best young centre-half in the country by an absolute mile,' said Megson. 'He's had another great season and I believe it is only a matter of time before he plays for England on a regular basis. 'Not only is he an outstanding footballer, he is a great lad to have around the place and I'm delighted that he sees his future lies with Bolton Wanderers.' Striker Kevin Davies, a summer target for Hull and Blackburn, is also expected to sign a new deal within 48 hours.
