Bendtner faces two months out as Arsenal striker reveals he needs op

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner says he needs surgery on his injured groin.[LNB]The 21-year-old picked up the knock in last month's 3-0 derby win over Tottenham Hotspur and had been expected to miss around a month.[LNB]However, the Denmark striker said: 'I will have an operation. I don't know how long I will be out.'[LNB] Nicklas Bendtner (right) was forced out of Arsenal's match against Tottenham Hotspur soon after this tussle with Benoit Assou-Ekotto [LNB]The injury was at first thought to be a strain but if it is a hernia, he could be out until January.[LNB]Arsenal confirmed the striker was set for a minor operation, but have refused to put a specific timeframe on his rehabilitation. They hope Bendtner should have recovered by early December. I played him against Tottenham because he is strong in the air.[LNB]'It gives us more variety in our games because we can lose possession, yet still win the next header with Bendtner.[LNB]'He makes us dangerous at set pieces and so we can change our game a little bit.'[LNB]Bendtner has been named as the Danish player of the year. The 21-year-old helped his country qualify for the 2010 World Cup and his superb strike against Portugal in September was voted their goal of the year.[LNB]'It is an immensely great honour to be awarded player of the year by the fans,' said Bendtner.
