Reports suggest Barcelona will step up their attempts to prise Arsene Wenger away from Arsenal after losing out in the La Liga title race to Real Madrid.

Current Camp Nou boss Frank Rijkaard is widely expected to step down from his post with the Gunners boss the favourite to replace him.

Reports in France last week said Wenger met with Barca director Feran Soriano in Paris, amid speculation that he was discussing a possible move to the Catalan giants for Thierry Henry.

However, The Sun reported on Tuesday that senior sources at Barcelona were insisting that Wenger's future was also being discussed.

Wenger remains unhappy that his close ally, David Dein, quit the Emirates Stadium in April, but insisted earlier this month that he would honour his current contract.

He said: "I have a contract for one more year here and I will complete that contract.

"I have never broken a contract in my entire career and I will not break a contract now. So I can tell you categorically that I will be at the club next season.

"And next summer I will sit down with the board and see."

Wenger has been in charge of the Gunners for almost 11 years.
