Zenit St Petersburg claim they have rejected a bid form Arsenal for Russia star Andrei Arshavin.
Arshavin, 27, is rumoured to be interesting Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is looking to make a rare move in the January transfer window to bolster his injury-ravaged midfield.
The Russia playmaker was linked with moves to Spain and England after starring in last summer's European Championship Finals, but a price tag of £25million put off the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Tottenham.
Zenit are believed to have lowered their asking price, but the Russian Premier League club claim they have still rejected an opening offer from the Gunners for their prize asset.
"I can confirm that Zenit did get an official offer from Arsenal about Andrei Arshavin," club spokesman Alexei Petrov told the Mail on Sunday.
"It was rejected as insufficient.
"They offered about £10million. No new offers have arrived from them since.
"At the moment, Arsenal are the only club to have approached us about the player."
