Andrei Arshavin has welcomed reports that Arsenal are closing in on signing him from Zenit St Petersburg.
The Russia international is believed to have been the subject of one unsuccessful bid from the Gunners since the transfer window reopened at the beginning of the month.
Arshavin was linked with moves to Spain and England after starring in last summer's European Championship Finals, but a price tag of £25million put off the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Tottenham.
However, should the Gunners agree a price with Zenit then the attacking midfielder has indicated he would be interested in joining the north London club.
"In some games last season, we played football which was very similar to that of Arsenal," he was quoted telling the Daily Telegraph.
Referring to the squad number currently occupied by defender William Gallas, he added: "I would prefer my present number 10, but in the team where I hope to move it's not vacant.
"So I'm ready for any number they are going to offer me."
