The Frenchman's contract expires at the end of next season and with on going speculation linking him with Real Madrid, Gazidis' reassurances that he sees Wenger guiding the young squad for years to come will go a long way in putting Arsenal fans' minds at rest. [LNB]In an interview with the Times, the 45 year-old South African said: "We are very relaxed about Arsène's contract [and] at the right time we and Arsène will talk about extending that. But we're extraordinarily happy with him. It's difficult for me to imagine anything other than Arsène leading the team forward with this young group of players. [LNB]"There's a huge amount of ambition left in Arsène and a huge amount of vision and legacy that has yet to be achieved. [LNB]'I'm hesitant to talk about a time after Arsène because he's in great health and I hope he will keep going longer than Sir Alex Ferguson, but at the same time we have to be aware that the club is bigger than anybody - any owner, which is why I talk about the self sustaining model. [LNB]"Some day, which I believe will be a long time from now, Arsène is going to say, 'I've done enough, I want to spend some time with my family'."[LNB]Confident that the players currently being nurtured by the Frenchman have what it takes not only to dominate the Premier League in seasons to come but also to bring an end to Arsenal's silverware drought this term, Gazidis added: "There is always pressure to win trophies at a club like this and we think we can win trophies this year. [LNB]'We're going to be right in the mix. You never know what fortune holds for you, but we believe we have a squad that will be very much in the mix for any competition we enter over the next five years. [LNB]'There is no question in my mind that this club is going to be very successful in delivering trophies to its fans."[LNB]
