Arsene Wenger suffers Arsenal setback as Tomas Rosicky sustains fresh injury

Czech Republic winger Rosicky has only just returned to action after 18 months out through injury. However, according to the Sun, Rosicky suffered a strained hamstring in training on Wednesday and has been told by medical staff that he will be out of action until the middle of September. Arsenal will now be without Rosicky for their Champions League qualifier as well as the first four Premier League matches. Rosicky has not played for Arsenal since rupturing knee ligaments in January last year. Arsene Wenger has already lost Samir Nasri to a broken leg while Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure have both left the club in recent weeks. The injury is a telling blow for Rosicky who this week said that his side will mount a strong challenge for the Premier League title. He said: "We have got plenty of options and that is why I feel we will be stronger than last season because the boss will have more options." Meanwhile, Arsenal's players are seemingly enjoying the banter generated by the return to pre-season training, although Andrey Arshavin has bore the brunt of most of it. The Russian striker apparently sounds like the meerkat from the 'Compare The Market' adverts, currently a cult hit on television, and the Arsenal players have been serenading the striker with vocal renditions whenever Arshavin speaks. Arshavin will no doubt want his feet to do the talking after news of Rosicky's injury.
