Arsenal need central defensive cover for outgoing trio William Gallas, MIkael Silvestre and Sol Campbell and Lorient director Serge Areguian said only 'administrative details that  have to be validated' before the move is made official.

David Astorga, who presents TF1's coverage of the World Cup, confirmed last night on his Twitter page: 'Info Arsene. The transfer of Koscielny from Lorient to Arsenal will be announced tomorrow.'

The defender would be Wenger's second signing after long-term target Marouane Chamakh joined the Gunners on a free-transfer in May.

Koscielny hopes his move to the Barclays Premier League will put him in contention for a place in Laurent Blanc's new-look France. Although the uncapped defender is also eligible to represent Poland.
