Arsene Wenger speaking after Arsenal’s 1-0 Community Shield victory over London rivals Chelsea has stated that all reports of Real Madrid striker coming to the Emirates this summer are false. Throughout the summer transfer season, reports have come often and unchecked, about Benzema and a “break the bank” transfer agreement.

Though Wenger stated several times over the last couple of weeks that he did not intend to chase after the Frenchman, the rumors persisted. While in Singapore during the pre-season Wenger stated: “I don’t know where that story comes from, but that is not happening at the moment. I am happy with the squad we have. If I find an exceptional player to strengthen, I will do it”. He again reiterated after the Community Shield match: “No, honestly, no. I don't know who brings that up.”

Arsenal has been a team on a mission since the New Year, winning their second FA Cup trophy and their second Community Shield in a row. They also had a very good pre-season, both home and abroad scoring 14 goals and only giving up one. It is looking more like Arsenal have the team in place that will begin the new Premier League season next weekend against West Ham United. With the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, Arsenal look well stocked at the forward position for the season ahead.
