Arsene Wenger and Arsenal need to part ways

Just recently Manchester United legend Roy Keane said Arsenal needed a reality check, they were celebrating beating a second division team like they’ve just won the league and who can blame them, when even their manger said that fourth place is a trophy for his team. This goes to show you the mediocrity surrounds this arsenal team who has been trophy less for almost a decade.

After the 2006 champions league final, when arsenal became the first London based team to reach the competition’s final round, we expected significant improvement from an arsenal side who en-route to the showdown in Paris eliminated the almighty Real Madrid without conceding over 2 legs, but that was not to be, no significant investment followed the invisible’s team and rather integral players of the team were either sold or past their prime and one could forgive this lack of investment given the fact that they had just built a new stadium at that point in time but it has been 8 years since the final in Paris and no signs of significant investment has been made to this arsenal team expect of Mesut Ozil who arrived last summer and Ozil was an unnecessary world class addition in a summer where Wenger could have gotten either Radamel Falcao or Edison Cavani but he opted to buy a player whose quality is undoubted but wasn’t really needed by his team.

Just as Jose Mourinho said this set of arsenal payers are no longer kids and were mature enough to mount a serious title challenge but going deep into the season it was same old story, Arsenal fighting for the fourth place (Arsene Wenger’s trophy) and even though they are likely to end their trophy drought in the FA cup final later this month, the mentality of this arsenal team doesn’t just cut it, the entire team needs restructuring and for that to happen the current captain has to flee the ship. Arsene Wenger has to leave arsenal for both his and the teams sake. A wise man once a brave soldier is a soldier who fights but knows when to fight another day. Just like Pep Guardiola did with his all conquering Barcelona team when he felt he could no longer motivate them, Arsene Wenger needs to realize that enough is enough and call it a day at the London based side. No doubt he would go down as the best manager in the history of Arsenal FC and one of the best in the history of English Football. And he would not be short of suitors with mega-rich Monaco rumored to want "Le Professeur" to lead their project and PSG and Barcelona also around.
