Arsenal's latest transfer interest akin to Samir Nasri

French Ligue 1 club Lyon’s young playmaker Clement Grenier has stated that he has potentially made up his mind to cross the Channel and join the North London club Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has recently admitted that he is impressed with the French midfielder’s intelligent play and that his skills and qualities remind him of ex-Gunner Nasri.

Grenier is an attractive option with interest from other clubs like Liverpool but with Arsenal reportedly willing to fork out £8 million for him, it remains to be seen if Lyon’s coach Remi Garde would be ready to lose an impact player he has strongly protected from leaving to Nice last summer.

With the current crop of midfield options already available for Arsene Wenger, Grenier might find it tough to regularly command first team football but the player who has regularly garnered interest from clubs like Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea in the past, could yet find himself with a handful of opportunities to impress the boss and cause a selection headache next season. It will be interesting to see if Wenger goes ahead and snaps him up as the wait for Arsenal faithful continues in anticipation of a big name on the lines of Wayne Rooney and David Villa.
