Arsenal v Man City: Match Preview

Premier League big guns Arsenal and Manchester City clash in Beijing, with bragging rights up for grabs.

The two teams last met in April, with an 87th minute strike by Mikel Arteta giving Arsenal a 1-0 win, and seemingly ending City's title hopes.

City would go on to pull out a superb comeback in their remaining fixtures and captured the Premier League title for the first time in 44 years.

Arsenal will be without Robin van Persie, who has been left at home due to his desire to leave the club.

Arsene Wenger expects a tough contest with the reigning Premier League champions, but insists he will put out his best side.

“It is a big game,” he said. “The intensity will be high again and hopefully we can last an hour [playing at a high pace] - that is the target.

"We want to have a good battle with Manchester City. We played the young players in Malaysia, they will play again certainly - some a little part - on Friday night but for now, we are preparing for the season.

“The players who play in the Premier League will play on Friday night.”

Manchester City picked up their first win of the pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Besiktas.

Carlos Tevez has been working hard in pre-season and is determined to force his way back into the team ahead of the new season.

Vincent Kompany should feature again after scoring against Besiktas and putting pen-to-paper on a new deal at the Etihad.
