Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor a target for Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan

Published: 19 May 2009 - 08:51:25

Jose Mourinho is known to be a big admirer of Adebayor and will reportedly bid £24 million to get his man. It had been thought Didier Drogba was Mourinho's top priority this summer, having worked with the Ivorian during his spell as Chelsea manager, but according to the Mail it is Adebayor Mourinho wants to partner up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovich. Inter have just wrapped up the Serie A title, but with an ageing squad, and Mourinho is about to set his rebuilding plans in motion, starting with Adebayor. Arsenal manager Wenger has reportedly accepted that the 25-year-old will be leaving the Emirates during the close season, and views £24m as a fair offer, especially with the player having struggled for form and fitness this season. Inter, though, will have their work cut out if they are to pip the Rosoneri to Adebayor's signature, especially as the Togo international has expressed an interest in playing alongside the likes of Kaka, Ronaldinho and Andrea Pirlo. Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi said: "There are good chances that Adebayor will arrive this summer." Berlusconi is also confident Milan will retain the services of Ronaldinho, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City. The Italian Prime Minister added: "I remain convinced that he will prove an excellent investment. I would like him to stay."
