Arsene Wenger may still be unsure of his exact spending power this summer, but Liam Brady is convinced he has already pulled off a signing to rival any of the recent spate of multi-million pound transfer deals.
While recruiting a proven goalscorer and dominant central defender may remain Wenger's most pressing need, there was a quiet smile of satisfaction from the Arsenal manager at removing any shred of doubt about Jack Wilshere's future and tying him to a new three-year contract.
His mood was shared by Brady, who has seen enough, in his role as head of youth development at The Emirates, to be convinced that a cultured left foot could soon be orchestrating Arsenal's midfield once more.
Asked by Sportsmail if there was anything familiar about an Arsenal midfield player controlling his side's fortunes as if the ball were tied to his left boot, the one-time Highbury idol chortled: 'Oh no you don't! I'm not going there. I can see the headlines now.'
