Arsenal must wait to finalize 25million pound move for Real Madrid forward Higuain

Arsenal are ready to blow Juventus out of the water in the race for Gonzalo Higuain with a reported £25.5million bid, according to Metro.

Arsene Wenger is ready to stump up a lump sum payment in the excess of £25.5million for Higuain – which is £6.8m more than what Juve are currently prepared to offer for the Argentinean.

The Italians are also said to be keen on splitting the fee into five installments, which is a far less attractive proposition for Real Madrid, who will look to invest the money in to Tottenham winger Gareth Bale

However, Madrid are unlikely to give the go-ahead to any move for Higuain until after a new first team manager has been confirmed.

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be announced as Jose Mourinho’s successor in the coming weeks, and while Higuain has made his desire to quit the Bernabeu clear, Real want the Italian to have his say on the future of Higuain.

Higuain, 25, has three years remaining on his current deal, and Real president Florentino Perez has previously warned both Arsenal and Juventus that they’ll need to bid in excess of £25.5m in order to land the Argentinean.

‘With £25.5m it’s better that they don’t come.’ he said.

‘Let’s see if people ask us for £50m for everyone and we sell one of ours for half that.’
