Arsenal are Gunner Add More Germans To Their Ranks
Frenchman Arsene Wenger has been critisized for his policy of young signing young fellow countrymen over the past few years - at the expense of players of other nationalities. But the Arsenal manager seems to of switched his attentions to Germany in recent times; with the deadline day marquee signing Mesut Ozil joining fellow Germans Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry in playing for the North London side.
Ozil, brought in from Real Madrid, was Arsenals record signing at £42.4million and Wenger has aquired the services of arguably the best attacking midfielder in the world. Is the the start of a German evolution as opposed to a French revolution for the Gunners?
The transfer window is shut, but Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender. According the the Daily Star - Arsenal will bid £25million when the transfer window opens again in January. Arsenal are in need of a defensive midfielder - and failed in the summer in attempts to bring in Bayern's Luiz Gustavo, who instead joined Wolfsburg.
And the German evolution doesn't stop there, according to the Metro - Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Ikay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund as Wenger looks to further bolster his midfield.
German efficiency over French flair, if Arsenal add more quality Germans to their side come January - their 8 year wait for a trophy may well be coming to an end soon.
