Arsenal and Spurs on alert as Gonzalo Higuain announces Real Madrid exit
Gonzalo Higuain appears to have played his last game for Real Madrid, with the Argentine all but confirming his impending departure as the Spanish season came to a close on Saturday.
'I feel like my time here has come to an end,' he told reporters after scoring in a 4-2 win over Osasuna, in what was Jose Mourinho’s last game in charge of los Blancos.
“I was never given anything here, I always had to fight for the death. I came for €12 million but I think I will sell for more.”
Higuain has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the past year, having struggled to hold down a regular spot at the Bernabeu ahead of Karim Benzema.
Juventus are said to be favourites, however, with the player himself confirming that the Serie A giants had made an approach.
“Juventus and other teams are interested in me,” Higuain said. “Juventus is an historical club and many great players have played there. “I want to go where I can prove myself really. I have several offers and want a change of scenery. I hope that [Madrid] does the best for me and for themselves. “Juventus is a historical club. Many great players have played there.”
Some reports have suggested Higuain - who has scored 122 goals in seven seasons at Madrid - could be bought for less than £20 million, despite the fact he has three years remaining on his current contract.
