Arsenal to bolster attacking options with sensational Costa

Diego Costa is a mouth-watering prospect for any team and isn't a player overlooked due to tactics or used purely for impact these days, he is as they say “on fire”. From his 17 La Liga appearances this season he has scored 19 goals and at just 25 he has plenty left in the tank. The only question is would he be open to leaving Atletico Madrid if his reported buyout clause was triggered? Arsenal clearly think he just might join them according to the Star despite Liverpool failing in the Summer of 2013 and are at least prepared to trigger the clause to ask the question.

The Brazilian was granted dual-nationality in 2013 making him a Spanish citizen returned to Atletico in 2010 initially as back-up for Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan. He has made 76 appearances for Madrid and scored 35 goals.

In 2013 Costa was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool who were alleged to have triggered his release clause and offered him three times his salary. Costa declined that approach and instead signed a new contract until 2018 with Atletico and doubled his wages in the process. According to the Star report the gunners are looking at spending £32m for his signature
