Arsenal striving for more big name signings

Having already spent over £65M on new signings Arsenal continue to be linked with a number of high profile players on the eve of the new Premiership season.

Not content with the signings of Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy, Joel Campbell and David Ospina, the Gunners are being linked with a number of players with the Sami Khedira rumours reaching fever pitch after the German star was left out of Real Madrid's Super Cup match earlier in the week. It seems to be a straight race between Chelsea and Arsenal as to who Khedira will sign for and the German influence at the Emirates could well prove to be pivotal in terms of who wins his signature.

Other big names being linked with Arsenal include Napoli's striker Eduardo Vargas, PSG's Edinson Cavani, former QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia and Newcastle's Cheick Tiote.

As City showed last year you can ever have enough quality strikers although the chances of signing Cavani from PSG seem unrealistic given the players recent claims that he wishes to stay in France. QPR's Mbia seems most likely to be signed, as this player is now a free agent after spending last season on loan at Sevilla. Wenger wants to strengthen in the defensive midfield position and if the Sami Khedira signing does not materialise you can expect Wenger to make a move for the former QPR star.
