ShareThe Cesc Fabregas transfer saga resumed as Arsenal rejected a ?27million bid from Barcelona for their star midfielder.[LNB] Despite offering ?35.5m last summer for the 24-year-old, Barca have lowered their valuation owing to fears over his hamstrings. [LNB] Second coming: Barcelona have made a fresh bid for Cesc Fabregas[LNB]The Spanish club's president Sandro Rosell said last week: 'If last year we offered 40m euros (?35.5m), it is clear that this year his value is less. Since then there has been wear and tear and he is worth less.' [LNB] The Spain midfielder has been dogged by injuries to both hamstrings in the past two years and the European champions are using the issue as a bargaining tool in a bid to drive down the price.[LNB] Worries over Fabregas' fitness are also shared by senior members of the Arsenal hierarchy, who feel another injury-blighted season for their captain could drive his price down even further.[LNB] Home boy: Fabregas wants to return to Barcelona, where he started out as a youth player[LNB] However, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis flatly turned down the opening offer - made by Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu during his visit to London last week - and will try to hold out for a fee of ?50m.[LNB] Fabregas has another four years remaining on his contract at the Emirates, and there have also been suggestions in Spain that Barca have their own long-term injury concerns over influential midfielder Xavi, who has been dogged by an achilles problem.[LNB] On a promotional trip to Indonesia this week, Fabregas was reluctant to discuss Barca's pursuit, but did hint at his intentions by saying: 'My biggest idol is Pep Guardiola.'[LNB] Arsenal back for Velez Sarsfield's Alvarez as Samba begs Blackburn not to block moveWest Brom insist Odemwingie and Mulumbu are going nowhere despite continued speculationSamba entices Arsenal by telling Blackburn he wants to move to a bigger club[LNB] [LNB]
