Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas feels let down by Barcelona over transfer tussle

Dream: Cesc Fabregas has admitted he hopes to rejoin his boyhood club Barcelona one day[LNB]After the unfortunate picture of Cesc Fabregas and his wannabe new teammates dressing him in the Barcelona shirt during Spain's World Cup celebrations comes the real team photo. [LNB]And in this one the Arsenal captain will still be wearing the red and white of the club to which he is contracted for another five years. [LNB]Fabregas, due back in London for the official photo and his first training session, could be forgiven for feeling his boyhood club have hung him out to dry over the course of an emotional summer. [LNB]Sources in Barcelona say the 23-year-old's family are also upset at the club's failure to deliver the signing, amid suggestions they have spoken to under-fire president Sandro Rosell urging him to do more.[LNB] Fabregas's father has spent the summer speaking on Catalan radio of how he believes Arsenal should give in to his son's wishes and allow him to move back - interviews he would never have given if he were not sure that Barcelona would do what was necessary to make the transfer happen. [LNB]  The club's new president has been powerless in the face of Arsenal's refusal to talk but the Fabregas clan believe Barca have not done enough after their son put himself in a potentially awkward position with Arsenal fans by admitting he wanted to join the Spanish champions. [LNB]It was in May that he publicly said for the first time that when he leaves Arsenal it would be to return to the Nou Camp, adding that he wanted his future sorted out before the World Cup. [LNB]Asked: 'If you leave Arsenal will it be for Barcelona?' He smiled and replied: 'Yes'. And when asked to reaffirm that it would 'only' be to join Barca, to warm applause he added: 'Yes, definitely yes.' [LNB]It was the enthusiasm with which he delivered the declaration that convinced Barca fans he was talking about the present. [LNB] Unfulfilled: Fabregas's family are upset at Barca's failure to sign him[LNB]It wasn't a transfer request but it seemed to be a statement of immediate intent and it was followed by a £30million bid from outgoing president Joan Laporta, which Arsenal rejected. [LNB]Apart from a never ending stream of Barca players saying they wanted him to rejoin the club, there has been no further movement. The Fabregas family are not the only ones pointing the finger at the club. Former president Joan Gaspart has criticised Rosell, urging him to seek out Wenger face to face. [LNB]A taste of glory: Fabregas is heading back to London after his World Cup-winning summer[LNB]He said yesterday: 'He should speak with Wenger - not by telephone, or with a go-between but in person. If he fails, the whole world will understand but no one will be able to say he didn't try until the end. It's very difficult for Arsenal to keep a player who doesn't want to stay.' [LNB]Discussions between people representing Fabregas and the club are understood to have taken place before the World Cup. Spanish television even announced the signing had been done on the basis of an agreement between player and club - forgetting a rather important third party also had to agree. [LNB]That third party, Arsenal, will welcome Fabregas back tomorrow and unless he returns with a transfer request it seems they have won the battle to keep their star player.
