Arsenal should sign Julio Cesar to solve their goalkeeper problems

There is a minor chance that Queens Park Rangers’ Brazilian goalie Julio Cesar might make his way to Arsenal next season after he expressed his desire to stay on in London and indicated that he has spoken to a few clubs in the city. With QPR getting relegated this season, a transfer to a Premier League club would be beckoning for the shot stopper, also a member of his country’s national squad, to have an opportunity to stay in prime form for the World Cup near year.

Arsenal’s goal keeping problems have recently fallen silent after the satisfactory performances of the Pole Szczesny, who did a decent job at the end of the season as a few clean sheets saw Arsenal clinch a place in the top four in the league. Arsenal’s problem of inconsistency and form in spurts has again stung them in crucial stages of the season and they need a steady presence in front of the goal to exude confidence in the defense.

Cesar has had a decent season with the Rangers who were mired in disaster game after game. His most successful stint though was with the Italian club Inter Milan with whom he won 5 consecutive Serie A titles – a tremendous accomplishment – and a Champions League crown!

The Brazilian could be a significant signing for Arsenal if he does choose to come to the club as the Gunners need to get out of the rut of having only Champions League qualification to show for season after season. And the way forward for the club is to have the right mixture of young talent and experienced players that make for a balanced squad. Cesar could be a great piece in the puzzle and Arsenal needs to pounce if an opportunity to sign him appears on their door step.
