Arsenal Seek Marquee January Signings: Di Maria, Pato and Cavani

In an attempt to consolidate their early season success and buoyed by the impact of big money summer signing Mezut Ozil, Arsenal have made enquiries about a host of stars reportedly seeking transfer window moves.

With most of Wengers summer transfer kitty still burning a hole in his pocket, here are the players known to be on the Frenchman’s radar…………

Angel di Maria

Carlo Ancelotti divided Madrid opinion when he chose to release Mezut Ozil and keep the classy Argentinian but di Maria is known to be unhappy at being Gareth Bales warm up act.

Although Manchester United have dipped a toe with this one, the biggest obstacle to di Maria gracing the Emirates any time soon is the money being offered to Real Madrid and di Maria by Monaco with whom the talented wingers agents are reportedly in ‘advanced negotiations’.

Alexandre Pato

South American website ‘Lancenet’ are reporting that Arsenal have had an €8million bid for Pato turned down by his current club Corinthinians. When you consider that is likely to be the cost of the average hotel room per night in Brazil next summer, could this be just another example of Arsene Wenger preparing the ground for another club to swoop in and sign the player?

This is very much a possibility if Arsenal get their business done early and quickly.

Edinson Cavani

Another case of ‘always the bridesmaid’ for Cavani at PSG where the 26-year-old Uruguayan is struggling to shine in the considerable shadow that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavanis agents have reportedly made ‘discreet enquiries’ with Arsenal the first club to bite.

With interest likely to come from far and wide including the usual suspects of La Liga’s big 2 OF Real Madrid and Barcelona as well as the Premiership big hitters of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, this could well become January’s most interesting signature tug-of-war.
