Juventus hope to scupper Arsenal's hopes of signing Marouane Chamakh on a free transfer next summer. The Bordeaux hot shot admits he is 'fascinated' by the prospect of joining Juve and his agent is believed to have stayed on for informal talks in Turin following the 1-1 draw between the two teams in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Italian giants see the Morocco international as like-for-like replacement for France striker David Trezeguet, who has indicated he will leave at the end of the season. Chamakh said: 'Juve are a great team. So they're looking for an heir to Trezeguet? The idea of playing in Turin fascinates me.' The 25-year-old pushed hard for a move to England in the summer and said a switch to Arsenal would be a dream, but he was let down when Arsene Wenger declared he would rather wait for his contract to run down than pay Bordeaux's £15million initial asking price. Chamakh would be a free agent next summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs from January. West Ham United, Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers also showed interest in the summer, while Tottenham Hotspur have tracked him in previous windows. He has started the season in hot form, scoring three in five Ligue 1 games, and there have been suggestions he would listen to a two-year contract extension at Bordeaux, despite saying there was no possibility of renewing this summer.
