Arsenal on red alert as Barcelona could send Deulofeu out on loan

Barcelona have made youngster Gerard Deulofeu available for a season-long loan move this summer, sparking interest amongst English football’s top clubs. The Catalan outfit are believed to have approached several Premier League clubs about the Spaniard, and are keen for the 19-year-old to develop in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Having recently secured Neymar’s signature, Barcelona fear that Deulofeu’s progress will be stunted by a lack of playing time next term, and are reluctant to send the highly-rated young winger back out on loan to Barcelona’s B team in the Spanish second division.

The club hope that a stint in England would push Deulofeu on to the next level, due to the Premier League’s notoriously fast and physical nature. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham could all be interested in the versatile youngster, who can play centrally or on either wing.

Borussia Dortmund have also been touted as potential suitors, as the Champions League runners-up look to shore-up a squad that may well be ripped apart by Europe’s financial power-houses this summer. However, any club who are looking to land Deulofeu on a permanent basis will have to empty their pockets if they wish to do so, with Barcelona inserting a €35 million (£29m) buyout clause into his recently signed four year contract.
