Arsene Wenger says he will not buy a replacement for Eduardo da Silva following the Croatia striker's £6million move to Shakhtar Donetsk.[LNB]The Gunners boss admitted he was sad to see the back of the hugely popular Brazil-born player, who was nursed back to action after a shocking double leg break suffered at Birmingham in February 2008.[LNB]But despite admiring the likes of Nice striker Loic Remy - who looks bound for West Ham United - Wenger says his priorities lie in signing more defensive players.[LNB] Closed gap: Arsenal will not replace Eduardo with another striker despite the Croatian's departure, insists Arsene Wenger[LNB]'It is sad to see him leave because it reminds us how badly he was injured,' Wenger said of Eduardo, who scored 20 goals in 67 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Dinamo Zagreb three years ago.[LNB]'It is sad as well because he is an outstanding player but he is 27 and he needs to play. He will have that opportunity with Shakhtar. Up front we have plenty of players and I believe it is good for his future.[LNB]'We still have Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner to come back and join the squad and we now have Marouane Chamakh. I don't think I will go into the market for a centre forward.'[LNB] Leading the line: Wenger will put his faith in new signing Marouane Chamakh[LNB]Despite being well-stocked up front, defensive options remain a concern with Arsenal hopeful that Sol Campbell will agree a one-year contract.[LNB]  'There is no news on a defensive signing but numbers wise we are short in defence,' said Wenger. [LNB]'The situation is still open for Sol Campbell and for the rest we are still looking.'[LNB]Centre half Laurent Koscielny has already arrived from Lorient, but Mikael Silvestre and William Gallas are set to join new clubs after failing to agree new contracts.[LNB]  Eduardo thanks Arsenal after sealing £6m move to Shakhtar DonetskLeo's London: Sol is hardly Arsenal's answer when Gallas could have stayedCompetition: Win tickets to both days of the Emirates Cup at the Emirates StadiumARSENAL FC
