EMMANUEL EBOUE admits he would love to sign a new contract with Arsenal and is ready to help the club win the Champions League this season. Eboue looked to be heading out of the door last December after facing a barrage of abuse from his own fans when he was taken off as a substitute during a league game against Wigan at the Emirates Stadium. But the Ivory Coast international has managed to turn his career around and has now earned cult status with the Arsenal fans. Eboue was among the scorers as Arsenal cruised to a 3-1 win over Celtic on Wednesday, which secured their place in the group stages of the Champions League. Despite being linked with a move to Barcelona and Fiorentina, the Ivorian is now hoping to pledge his long-term future to the Gunners and help them win major silverware again. Eboue said: ‘The boss has given me some confidence and my friends helped me a lot and now I feel very well when I play. I try to give 100 per cent on the pitch and then give more for the fans. ‘Last season I wanted to give my best on the pitch - it was different but I have forgotten about that - and this season I want to give my best. ‘I've forgotten everything that happened. I'm very happy with the fans because they sing my name and make me happy when I play. I say thank you to the fans. ‘We are together now and they are very happy about me. So I am very happy about the partnership with the fans. I have two more years at Arsenal and feel very good here. I want to improve more and win something with my team. ‘If they want me to sign I will sign because I love this club and have to do my best for this team. If we give our best we can win something this year.’ Eboue defended his decision to take off his shirt when he scored Arsenal’s second goal ‘ even though he knew he would receive a booking. Eboue added: ‘I'm very religious and on Tuesday I spoke with my priest and he told me to do that. I did that for God because he is with me and my colleagues. I said thank you to God.’ Have you been impressed with Eboue this season’ Let us know what you think...
