Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger could face touchline ban after Old Trafford sending off

The Arsenal manager was sent to the stands by Mike Dean on the advice of fourth official Lee Probert for kicking a water bottle in the technical area after Robin van Persie's late equaliser was ruled out for offside. Arsenal are almost certain to appeal any ban which would force Wenger to watch Arsenal's trip to Manchester City and the visit of Wigan from the stands. [LNB]"Frankly I don't know what to say," Wenger said. "Thirty seconds to go… It was really spectacular. I didn't even know where to go. They told me to go to the stand but there was no way up to the stand. Just because I kicked a bottle of water I didn't say a word to anybody. And it was quite a good kick…" [LNB] Related ArticlesManchester United 2 Arsenal 1Man Utd v Arsenal action photosMan Utd v Arsenal: match blogJim White: Rooney emulates Arshavin to restore orderHenry Winter: Arshavin shows Eduardo way to play fairSport on televisionIt is not the first time Wenger has been sent to the stands. In December 2006 he was sent off by referee Steve Bennett at half-time of a game against Portsmouth. He subsequently escaped a touchline ban but was fined £2,500. Uefa have announced that they will be looking into Eduardo's dive against Celtic in midweek and consider punishing him retrospectively something Wenger has branded a "disgrace". [LNB]"They have made a case of Eduardo," Wenger said. "You watched the game last night [Barcelona versus Shakhtar Donetsk in the European Super Cup]. They will have to charge Lionel Messi for headbutting or lose credibility. Pedro, from Barcelona, he dived as well. Over a weekend I will find you 50 situations where they can intervene. If they don't, then Eduardo will have been singled out. [LNB]"Anyway, if you look at it carefully he was touched." [LNB]
