Atletico Minero midfielder Bernard may well be on his way to The Emirates, according to Brazilian website O Tempo.

Earlier on today, the source reported that The Gunners are closing in on a deal for the 20-year-old talent, who is also being pursued by Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Porto and Liverpool.

The pint-sized playmaker, who plays predominately of the left side of midfield, was part of Brazil’s Confederations Cup winning squad and considered one of the hottest prospects in South American football.

Bernard could become Arsene Wenger’s first major signing of the summer transfer window and the deal could be wrapped up within the next 11 days.

The Frenchman has also set his sights on a number of high profile additions, seemingly closing in on the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Marouane Fellaini.

Outcast players such as Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are expected to be offloaded in Wenger’s summer clear out, to make space for, hopefully, some new and improved talent.
