Arsenal has agreed to a six-month loan deal with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

Morata is one of Real’s most talented and promising youngsters and reports suggest that Arsenal have beat London rivals Tottenham to sign the Spanish striker.

Early reports suggested that the Spurs were holding talks with the Spaniard but it seems that Arsenal have beaten them to the punch. Andre Villas-Boas was hoping to sign the Madrid starlet during the summer as part of the Gareth Bale deal to Real. But the Giants’ boss, Carlo Ancelotti, blocked the move at the time.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the 21-year old as he was looking to add another striker to the lineup to support front man Olivier Giroud.

The Spaniard has scored 12 goals in 11 matches for the Spain Under-21 team but has only been able to secure one start for Los Blancos this season. He has been featured in games frequently this season and has managed to net two goals off the bench.

He will probably have more chances for starting with a loan spell at the Emirates, as Giroud has featured in every single game for Arsenal this season. Wenger has been searching for another promising striker to support Giroud as over-playing the striker is a threat.

With the promise of featuring in more Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium, Morata hopes it will increase his chances at a spot for Spain’s lineup for the Brazil World Cup.

Morata has picked up he Golden Boot at this year’s European Under-21 championship and is just beginning to tap on his full potential.
