Arsenal have the quality Liverpool lack to win Premier League, insists Parlour

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour insists his old club's greater in-depth quality than Liverpool makes them serious title contenders - as long as they finish the work they started at Anfield yesterday.[LNB]The Gunners won 2-1 at Anfield but on Wednesday travel to Turf Moor to face a Burnley side who knocked them out of the Carling Cup last season.[LNB]And on Saturday Arsenal entertain Hull, one year on from a shattering 2-1 home defeat to the Tigers that all but ended their Premier League title dreams before Christmas.[LNB] Key moment: Andrey Arshavin scores Arsenal's winning goal[LNB]But Parlour, 36, a veteran of 12 years at Arsenal, believes the victory over Liverpool shows just how far they are ahead of Rafa Benitez's men - and that they are indeed serious challengers for top spot.[LNB]'If Arsenal win their game in hand they are level with Manchester United and three points behind leaders Chelsea,' said Parlour.[LNB]'Their squad is packed with great players and they have it in them to overtake Chelsea. The difference in Arsene Wenger's squad and Liverpool's is quality - Arsenal have it in depth and are serious contenders but Liverpool are struggling.[LNB]'The win at Anfield was absolutely fantastic - even a Liverpool side low on confidence are hard to beat on their own patch and to turn things round like Arsenal did will give them so much confidence of their own.[LNB]'Arsene clearly had a few things to say to them at half time because they were awful for the first 45 minutes but what a response.[LNB] Cup kings: Arsenal goalscorers Freddie Ljungberg (left) and Ray Parlour celebrate winning the 2002 FA Cup, Parlour's third of four winners' medals[LNB]'Now it's time to end that long wait without a trophy at Arsenal - there's a big space on the honours board that needs filling.[LNB]'And beating Burnley and Hull - and completing a nine-point haul in a  week - would be a great start.[LNB]'You know those games won't be easy but Arsenal have to win them, it's as simple as that - and they can.'[LNB]Sharp-dressed man: Ray Parlour the Barclays Premier League ambassador[LNB]Much has been said about Wenger's half-time 'rocket' with skipper Cesc Fabregas revealing they had all been told they were not fit to wear the shirt.[LNB]It is a side of Wenger rarely seen but Parlour remembers too well the day Arsenal trailed 5-1 at half-time to Manchester United at half-time and the Frenchman read the riot act.[LNB]'It was an honour and privilege for me to play for Arsene for eight years and to be fair he rarely lost his temper. But that day at Old Trafford he was livid.[LNB]'There was no way back for us so he just told to show some pride and passion and avoid any more humiliation. [LNB]'Our defence was having a nightmare - it was just one of those days - and it was the first time I ever heard him swear. Some of the lads were so shocked.[LNB]'He's great at putting across what he wants you to do and as well only lost the second half 1-0 you could say he succeeded to some extent.[LNB]'But that was the angriest I ever saw - if he was like that against Liverpool, it was no wonder they turned it round![LNB]'The League table doesn't lie - the best team always wins it and the worst teams go down.[LNB]'The way Arsenal play they deserve to win something - and this is their best chance for a long time to win the title.'[LNB]Ray Parlour was speaking on behalf of Barclays Ticket Office, which is giving fans the chance to win a pair of free Barclays Premier League tickets every 90 minutes throughout the 2009/10 Barclays Premier League season.
