Arsenal's humbling at the hands of their title rivals on Sunday could force manager Arsene Wenger to make a last-minute raid on French club Nice for striker Loic Remy.[LNB]The Gunners were unable to field a recognised striker against Manchester United and subsequently unable to recover from a quickfire double late in the first half.[LNB]Wenger's hand has been further forced by news from France that long-term target Remy is subject of a £13million bid from Rennes. Lyon, too, are preparing to make their move.[LNB] 'New Thierry Henry': Nice forward Loic Remy[LNB]However, Remy, daubed 'the new Thierry Henry', has been struck down with an ankle injury making any passing of a medical unlikely by 5pm when the window on purchases in England slams shut.[LNB]Wenger reportedly tried to sign the imposing frontman on loan last week but could return with a cash offer to avoid seeing the player, and Arsenal's title aspirations, slip through his fingers.  [LNB]Gunners chief scout in France, Gilles Grimandi, said: 'We know the potential of Remy. He has one of the greatest potentials in France and perhaps even in Europe over the next five years.'[LNB]The play himself also appears keen on a move to north London. He said: 'I often talk about Arsenal with Diaby and Sagna when I am with them in the French team. They tell me that when you are at Arsenal you want to stay there for your entire career.'[LNB]Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has made enquiries about the availability of 23-year-old Remy but is now ready to use the allure of Champions League football to pip Ligue 1 rivals Rennes to his signature. [LNB]Remy has scored seven goals in 21 league games this season and made his international debut against Nigeria in June 2009.[LNB] TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY LIVE: Sunderland sign Alan Hutton on loan, Kamara exits Fulham to Celtic and Harry Redknapp is still after a keeper - all the deals and drama as they happenGunners legend Thierry Henry hails United's red hot marksman RooneyWe made massive errors against United, admits Arsenal boss WengerCompetition: Win an Arsenal shirt signed by skipper Cesc Fabregas Arsenal 1 Manchester United 3: Rooney the destroyer - Sharpshooter Wayne shatters Gunners' title illusions with a little help from Nani Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs and Liverpool dealt deadline day blow as Klass-Jan Huntelaar admits he wants to stay at AC MilanARSENAL FC
