Denilson is ready to welcome Brazilian starlet Wellington Silva to Arsenal - but the forward's club Fluminense are pleading to keep him till 2012.

The 17-year-old has just broken into the Rio de Janeiro side's first team and is set for a starring role following the sale of 20-year-old striker Maicon to Lokomotiv Moscow.

Wellington has agreed a £3.5million move to the Gunners, but cannot be registered until the January window opens next year, after his 18th birthday.

However, Fluminense have been impressed by his instant impact in the side and want the Under 17 international for at least next year.

'We know it will be difficult, but we are working on a way to make it happen, said Fluminense's vice-president of football Alcides Antunes.

Denilson is excited about the arrival of his compatriot and hopes topass on the gratitude that veteran Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silvashowed him almost four years ago.

Denilson came to London from Sao Paulo as an 18-year-old and is now proving a reliable first-team performer, though he admits it can take time to adapt.

'Wellington has been here, to my house, and he knows that when he comes next year, we're waiting for him here, especially Eduardo and I, who are the Brazilians here.

'It is something that I've been through. When I arrived at Arsenal I was greeted well by Gilberto Silva and now it is my turn.

'The situation (of adapting) can go well if you keep a good head and depending who comes with you.'
