Arsenal disappointment as Christian Eriksen signs new Ajax deal

Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen has closed the door on a move to Arsenal by extending his contract with the Amsterdam club until 2014.

Gunners legend Dennis Bergkamp, a coach at Ajax, is reported to have recommended Eriksen to Arsene Wenger after the 18-year-old broke into the first team this season.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona were also believed to be monitoring the situation.

Midfielder Erikson said recently: 'I've read the rumours linking me with Arsenal and Barcelona, but that is all they are, rumors.

'People are free to write whatever they want, but I have not been in touch with any of these clubs. I'm too young to leave Ajax for a European giant yet.'
