Arsenal agree terms to sign Juventus star Arturo Vidal

The midfielder has been an alleged target of both Manchester United and Liverpool for some time with the player teasing for a move last summer only for bids to be knocked back and speculation to stall.

The 28-year-old Chile international has been noted for a combative box-to-box style of play, qualities admired in the English game but this season the player has also been deployed in a more advanced position to support the strikers as well as in a wide midfielder role depending on the formation.

The report in the Express claims that Vidal has agreed terms with Arsenal to join in the summer and link up with compatriot Alexis Sanchez with whom the midfielder has close links through the same agent. The report cites Calciomercatoweb who claim the Gunners were alerted to the player being available earlier in the week with Liverpool making an offer. The player is understood to have an asking price of £25million and Juventus are prepared to sacrifice the player in order to retain Paul Pogba.

Vidal scored the only goal in a 1-0 wind over Sampdoria in May which confirmed a fourth successive Serie A championship

In his four seasons at Juventus Vidal has made 124 league appearances and scored 35 goals. Vidal joined Juventus in 2011 from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.
