Arsenal agree 23m Sami Khedira fee and see off Chelsea hijack attempt

Reports emerging from the Metro suggest that the Gunners are very close to getting their second marquee signing of this transfer window with the acquisition of Sami Khedira.

The Metro claim that reports in Spain (Catalan daily newspaper Sport) believe that a £23m deal for the German midfielder has been agreed to bring the player to the Emirates. Despite a transfer figure being allegedly agreed it still leaves the matter of the personal terms with the 27-year-old stated to be demanding £150,000-per-week.

Arsene Wenger is building a strong German contingent in his squad and if the deal where to become a reality then Khedira would join several fellow Germans such as Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski.

Khedira suffered heartbreak after missing out on playing in the final itself due to a late injury during warm-up where he was replaced by Christoph Kramer. The player was happily able to collect his winner’s medal and celebrate with the rest of the team as they were crowned world champions.

Reports had surfaced last week that suggested Chelsea were planning on making their own move for the Real Madrid midfielder but it seems that Wenger has taken the initiative again and so far looks to be in the driving seat.
