Andy Townsend's Boot Room: Rodwell is another classy Moyes boy

If you haven't seen much of young Jack Rodwell recently, you will be seeing a lot more of him in the future.[LNB]Like Wayne Rooney, he's an Everton find and, like Wayne Rooney, he looks like another Manchester United player.[LNB]Not that David Moyes will thank me for saying it, but Rodwell seems destined for a bigger stage.[LNB]He's been used mainly as a central midfielder, but my sources tell me that he is an emerging central defender, once he has the experience.[LNB] Class act: Rodwell has already been earmarked for big things[LNB]There's even talk of him gatecrashing Fabio Capello's England World Cup squad but that may come too soon for him. Although we said that about Theo Walcott in the last World Cup.[LNB]He's at a good club to learn his trade and should probably stay there for a good few years, even if United are leading the list of clubs who are noticing his powerful drivingstyle of play. He's tall, elegant, shifts about the pitch and can make a tackle.[LNB]He is a threat in and around the box in open play and set-pieces and should probably score more goals. That will come, I'm sure.[LNB]He's hit the target only twice this season, in the Europa League. He was certainly a player to notice last summer when England Under 21s played in the European Championships.[LNB] Enlarge I recently worked for ITV alongside Phil Neville, his Everton captain. Phil told me he is so two-footed, you can't work out his stronger side. That's a great quality Phil said he was the most naturally gifted two-footed player he has played with. And Phil was at Old Trafford![LNB]At Middlesbrough I played with Christian Ziege, who could smash a free-kick from either side of the field with either foot, to the same effect. It's a great strength. Moyes has built a team capable of punching above its weight. They also develop their own youngsters.[LNB] While Liverpool are struggling across the road to produce talent, Everton bring them through and give them a chance.[LNB]They are having a wobble now, though. They've gone five games without a win and have lost the last three, conceding 10 goals.[LNB] While Louis Saha is a threat, Yakubu is still returning to full fitness, but Tim Cahill has scored only twice this season and only once in the Barclays Premier League. He is an important player to them, a player to compare with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.[LNB]I'm sure his goals will return soon, because you look to him to get into double figures. They need him among the goalscorers.[LNB]They haven't found their rhythm after a bad start, losing 6-1 at home to Arsenal and haven't got a head of steam going yet. Marouane Fellaini, who cost £15million, let's not forget, doesn't seem to be on top of his game. I'm disappointed with his football. They are sloppy at the back do they miss Joleon Lescott? and it's a while since they won at home.[LNB]Aston Villa rolling into Goodison Park today is hardly what they need. This could be another difficult afternoon for Everton and their supporters.[LNB] [LNB] JAMIE REDKNAPP AND ANDY TOWNSEND: You can't kid us, Robbie Keane: Spurs are on the march, but Arsenal are still top guns[LNB]
