Andrey Arshavin ruled out of Arsenal against Manchester City

Sidelined: Gunners playmaker Arshavin Andrey Arshavin has suffered a setback in recovering from calf and groin strains and will not be fit to face Manchester City on Saturday. Within hours of telling the Arsenal website he hoped to be fit, the Russia forward admitted he could only hope to play in the Gunners' final two matches of the season. 'Alas, the latest data says I should fully recover within a week, so on Saturday I won't be able to enter the pitch,' he said on Wednesday night. 'I hope to play in the remaining matches of the season - against Blackburn and Fulham.' The 28-year-old insisted Arsenal had not given up hope of winning the Barclays Premier League, but admitted his side must learn from defeats by Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United. 'We had hoped for more, so we can't be satisfied with third,' he said. 'I can only say that next season we must try to solve this problem. It exists, so therefore something must be done.'   Arsenal set to make summer move for Bayer Leverkusen keeper Rene AdlerSpurs defender Bassong's shock confession: I'm supporting Arsenal!Toure urges City team-mate Adebayor to show 'more 'intelligence' at ArsenalArsenal disappointment as Eriksen signs new deal to stay with AjaxNasri can't wait to link-up with Chamakh - if he joins ArsenalArshavin confident Arsenal battlers will end trophy drought next seasonARSENAL FC
