Almunia to boost Gunners

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has provided Arsenal with a timely boost by declaring himself fit for the weekend encounter with Middlesbrough.

The Spanish goalkeeper has missed the last two games with a recurrence of an ankle injury.

Understudy Lukasz Fabianski was criticised for his performance in Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea and although revealing he won't be fit to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night, Almunia believes he will be back for the Boro clash.

That means Almunia is also set to face Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Champions League the following week.

"The Liverpool game on Tuesday is a bit too early," Almunia told the Daily Star.

"But I'll be totally ready for Boro on Sunday."
