Talk of Barca making a move for the player emerged last month as the Catalan giants became frustrated in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s Javi Martinez.
Sport reports that Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Song, but they have yet to submit a formal offer to Arsenal.
Song is thought to have come into Tito Vilanova's plans as officials are impressed with Song’s ability to operate in defence and midfield, and he is seen as a replacement for Seydou Keita, who left the club earlier this summer.
