Alan Smith: Sky thinking outside the box with Arsenal v Manchester United in 3D TV

29 January 2010 22:52
To explain, a significant slice of TV history will be made on Sunday when Sky Sports broadcasts the Arsenal-Manchester United game in glorious 3D. This is the first time a live sports event has been beamed in this way to a public audience anywhere in the world. [LNB]I am particularly excited because Sky have asked me, along with Alan Parry, to commentate on the match. Best make sure I don't flinch, then, when a Wayne Rooney piledriver comes flying out of the screen. Rather than being perched on the TV gantry at the top of the stand, we'll be sat in a room at the Emirates, watching the action unfold on a special monitor while wearing 3D glasses. [LNB]The service will be rolled out to hundreds more pubs, before eventually finding its way into our homes. [LNB]
