Arsenal striker Em
ManUel Adebayor claims he is ready to fight it out with Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for this year's Premier League golden boot.
The Togo frontman currently trails the Manchester United winger by two goals in the battle to end the season as the league's leading marksman.
But having bagged 19 top-flight goals already this season, Adebayor is in no mood to concede the accolade to somebody who doesn't even play up front.
He said: "At the moment I am having a good race with Ronaldo.
"I am a striker and cannot let myself be dominated by one midfielder.
"I just want to prove I can score more goals and, if I can win the golden boot, there will be nothing better."
Meanwhile, Adebayor has set his sights on reaching 30 league goals following a conversation with former team-mate Thierry Henry prior to his departure to Barcelona last summer.
"When Thierry signed for Barcelona he told me he would score more than 30 goals," he added.
"If I can get to 30, it will be for Thierry as he believed I could do it."
