Somebody at White Hart Lane clearly had the thought that posting them to arrive the day after a bit of Wembley glory would ease the pain of another small price hike on tickets that already cost upwards of £750 each.
Wembley woe: Tottenham players endured a miserable weekend
Instead Portsmouth made it a black Monday, and for Spurs' Silver, Gold and Platinum members the postman made it even worse. One fed up Tottenham fan told Sportsmail: 'After such a lame and pathetic performance it was the last day I wanted to think about signing up for another season of it.'
To add to the frustration, Tottenham's Aaron Lennon is out of Wednesday's North London derby but Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is expected to play some part.
Hopes had been raised that Lennon could make his first appearance since December after training last week. But the winger was forced to undergo another scan on his groin problem yesterday and will not play.
Ruled out: Aaron Lennon
Harry Redknapp will also be without Niko Kranjcar, who picked up an ankle injury in the semi-final defeat to Portsmouth. Vedran Corluka could also miss out with an ankle injury which required an injection during the half-time break at Wembley. Skipper Ledley King could return, however, having been sidelined with a thigh injury since February.
Tottenham's injury problems have been compounded by the two-game suspension of Wilson Palacios, who picked up his 10th yellow card against Portsmouth.
There was much better news for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after Van Persie came through a full training session unscathed following five months out with ankle ligament damage. Wenger will see how Van Persie fairs in today's training session before making a final decision on whether to select him.
Wenger must also weigh-up whether to include Sol Campbell in his starting line-up despite the hostile reception he is sure to receive against his former club.
