6 things we were all thinking during Arsenal v Chelsea

Arsenal held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates meaning Jose Mourhino’s men are a step closer to clinching the title within the week.

Arsene Wenger’s side meanwhile might be thankful of a point which could be the difference between second and third in the Premier League table. But even a 0-0 draw isn’t without its moments.

1. Why is Cesc Fabregas wearing that mask?

It’s fair to say former Gunner Cesc didn’t get the best of responses on his return to the Emirates – even with his superhero-esque mask.

His touches were booed by the Arsenal fans and it only turned to cheers when he picked up a yellow card for possibly diving following a challenge by Santi Cazorla in the area.

2. Hold on – why has Cesc Fabregas taken OFF that mask?

While people weren’t supportive of the mask in the first place, there were even more questions being asked about Cesc taking it off as the game went on.

3. That was a crackin’ save from Bellerin

A long ball from Fabregas was chased down by Oscar who tried to score – only to be clattered into by David Ospina. The ball was only kept from the goal by a full stretch Hector Bellerin who cleared from the line with a header while he ended up tangled in the net.

Plenty were calling for a penalty and Ospina to be sent off, but Bellerin’s move was a winner.

4. Maybe Cesc Fabregas is half blue, half red?

Fabregas’ exit picked up even more boos from the Arsenal fans but there were a lot of applauds too, maybe the former captain won them over. He did swap shirts at the end, putting him back in Arsenal’s red at least from the waist up.

Maybe he’s half blue, half red.

5. The stats seem to favour Chelsea

Theo Walcott was the last Arsenal player to score against Chelsea and that was back in 2013. Arsene Wenger hasn’t won against Mourinho for 13 games and Arsenal haven’t scored against Chelsea in their last five matches – across all competitions.

6. Boring, boring – Chelsea got a point

They might have only got one point and be held to a draw but John Terry was leading the cheers when the final whistle went.

They’ll know that they can wrap up the title this week with victories against Leicester and Crystal Palace but Arsenal fans could be heard chanting “boring, boring” as the teams left the pitch.
