It's the new series from Football.co.uk that does exactly what it says on the tin. Fifty rising stars in the Premier League brought to you in batches of one - from Monday to Friday.

To kick us off, everybody's favourite cheeky chappy midfielder, Jack 'Wonderkid' Wilshere.

Name: Jack WILSHERE

Born: January 1st, 1982 (Age 18)

Club: Arsenal

International honours: England (1 cap), England U21s (6 caps)

It says a lot about Wilshere that he's played above his age group throughout his international career. He played for England U17s at 15 and the U21s at 17. And in August this year made his full debut at 18.

A busy central midfielder with good movement and an eye for a pass, Wilshere has been tipped for big things by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Sent out on loan to Bolton for experience last season, Wilshere has returned to the Emirates with a first-team spot within his grasp. A superb performance in the Gunners' Carling Cup defeat of Tottenham won't have harmed his chances.

Small of stature, Wilshere's reading of the game is key to his potential and if he continues to develop many expect the Stevenage-born teenager to become an Arsenal and England regular.
